I first spoke with Carla & Mark via Skype, as they lived in California. When they arrived in the UK we met for their pre-wedding shoot, a stunning location where Mark grew up as a young boy. If you’d like to see that post please click on the link – Carla & Marks Pre-wedding Session.
A wedding at The Old Hall Hotel in Buxton, apparently England’s oldest hotel, too!!! Carla & Mark chose well!!!
Their wedding day had typical British weather, overcast with rain, to be honest I think this was actually really nice for Carla – such a different climate compared to CA. Their ceremony took place at St James’s Church in Taxal, Derbyshire, such a lovely rural setting surrounded by rolling hillsides and farms. Arriving at the church, Carla looked stunning in her lace wedding dress. She was ushered into church under a brolly, looking very happy and excited. I was soon poised at the front of church to capture Carla’s entrance with her father and her first look towards Mark, which was pretty special. The ceremony was lovely, and afterwards C&M made their way to the church gates where they got covered in confetti by their friends and family. After shaking off the confetti we headed back towards The Old Hall Hotel for their reception, before stopping at a location en route for some portraits with stunning scenery.
Shortly after arriving at The Old Hotel we had a break in the weather, which provided ample time to get some group and portrait photos in the nearby gardens. We also used the Pavilion Gardens near to their reception, such a great location out of the rain – I know Carla absolutely loved these images.
Some nice touches at the wedding were the cutting of their wedding cake with a sword, and, in particular, the American wedding values thrown into the day’s proceedings. One of those involved Mark removing Carla’s garter with his teeth – this proved to be great to photograph and very funny for everyone there. We even managed a bouquet toss inside, avoiding the beautiful chandeliers, which was expertly thrown by Carla and reaching her friends first time – these pics look amazing!
We finished off the day with some stunning sunset shots looking back at The Old Hall Hotel and the Buxton Opera House.
What else can I say about Carla and Mark, other than that they are such lovely, generous and kind-hearted people?! I felt so included, their wedding at The Old Hall Hotel In Buxton was simply amazing!!.
Here’s their 50 frame highlights from what was a truly great day! Enjoy 🙂
