Aston Marina Wedding Photographer

Since Brooke and Bryan’s Pre-wedding shoot, I’ve been excited to photograph their wedding held at Aston Marina in Stone, Staffordshire. Their chosen wedding venue is situated in lovely surroundings overlooking the waterfront of the Trent and Mersey Canal, where customers moor their boats. The venue location offers up some exciting photo opportunities and it was my first outdoor wedding of the year!

Thankfully, when I arrived the weather was looking perfect, with sunshine and blue skies reflecting across the water’s surface. After starting my day taking pictures of Aston Marina, showcasing all the highlights the wedding venue has to offer, I finally bumped into Brooke and her bridal party. Brooke was so chilled, full of smiles and eager to get her wedding underway. I spent some time capturing bridal party prep shots and then wandered up to the on-site No.26 bar to meet Bryan and his groomsmen, having a beer (or two 😄). As I was in the bar and dining area, B&B’s guests started arriving, greeted by Bryan. I took this opportunity to grab Bryan and his groomsmen for some set-ups walking down the side of the restaurant towards the wedding venue.

The next thing I knew I was prepping to document the ceremony, starting with Brooke meeting her brother, who was walking her into the outdoor ceremony. Capturing the ceremony was lovely, some great moments between bride and groom – exchanging glances, laughter and some happy tears. Some confetti was thrown and then it was time for everyone to come together over a drink to celebrate the day with Brooke and Bryan. The weather was still glorious, allowing the venue to open up its large patio doors where everyone was enjoying some warm weather on what was shaping up to be a perfect day! I was so happy to see B&B enjoying themselves as a married couple, it’s been a journey for them, having previously had to cancel the event because of COVID.

One of the obvious stand-out features of Aston Marina is the waterfront, and we got access to a private jetty looking directly across the marina, which made for some cracking wedding portraits. I only wish I had been with B&B all day as a sunset pic here would be incredible. Still, the photographs we did take here worked so well; the light was flat, perfect for couple portraits and the water was still – making for a tranquil atmosphere. I flew my drone briefly to encapsulate the surroundings better, which came out awesome. It’s so great to have that viewpoint on locations like this 😎.

The speeches came and they were hilarious, with Bryan getting somewhat rinsed by his best man using large, framed pictures to share his childhood music loves 😂. And then it was time for me to leave, although I really enjoyed myself and a part of me wanted to stay and get more pictures.

Heartfelt thanks to Brooke and Bryan for having me along as their wedding photographer, you two have been lovely from the day we met. Thanks to your family and friends too for being so welcoming and great fun to be around. Danni (Brooke’s sister), I need to thank you and Jim for recommending me to your sister after photographing your wedding ☺️. I feel incredibly privileged to have photographed you both, I just have your brother Zak to impress now 😁.
