When it comes to family photography no one booking is the same, the family dynamics and bond makes every shoot so unique. One family member often overlooked to be included in the photo shoot is the family pet. With a lot of my booking nowadays the question often arises “can we bring our dogs with us” I’m all for that! Our pets are so important to us and form part of that family bond. So when Lisa booked me to photograph her three girls Isla, Eva, the youngest Ayda and their dog Noodle it came with a warning from her – be ready for a challenge.
Family Photographer In Staffordshire
Roll on the day for their family photography session at Dimmingsdale Woods, in Staffordshire, one of my favourite locations for all season shoots. I met Lisa and her three daughters followed by a very happy and jumpy Noodle who was a right character! Lisa had shared some ideas with me prior to the shoot and my aim was to try and get something similar or better for her husband as a birthday gift.
To begin the photography session I just wanted the girls to be themselves without too much input from me. They seemed really close and loved holding hands wherever they went which made for some really lovely pics. We went for a short walk on what was a sunny day. We ended up near a fallen tree, shaded by overhanging trees in leaf which served as a perfect spot to use for most of the images. When we got to the stage of setting up the three girls together on a picnic blanket Noodle went into trench digging mode and flicked bark and dirt everywhere, over me, the girls, the picnic blanket and Lisa who was helping me arrange Ayda whilst keeping hold of the little JCB digger that is Noodle ha ha – Lisa did say it would be a challenge!!
After we all stopped laughing from Noodle’s antics I grabbed some documentary pics of Eva and Isla playing together, which made for some of my favourite pictures showing their personalities. I also took some individual portraits as the light was perfect, backlighting their faces and hair, I even managed to get some great portraits of Noodle.
Big thanks to Lisa for helping out organising some of the group shots whilst keeping Noodle in check, not sure how you managed that! Your kids were so easy to photograph, they clearly love each other’s company and that comes across in the photos I took. Last but not least thank you Noodle for turning the family photography session into a comedy sketch J. I can truly say I enjoyed capturing the pictures for Lisa and am very happy with the final set.
Here is a selection from their photography session, enjoy!
