I was booked by Lisa & Chris to photograph their daughter Daisy, and we arranged the photo session to take place a few days before Christmas at their home in Stoke-on-Trent. When I arrived I was immediately at ease as I had worked with Lisa & Chris before, photographing their wedding in 2014 at The Moat House in Hanley.
Daisy was certainly raring to start the portrait session as we finished off our cups of tea, she was very active with a beaming smile that was lovely to see. Like every portrait booking, I assess the lighting and location to get the best from every session. It wasn’t long before I had set up my lighting and spotted a good starting point for Daisy to lie on her front. I also lay down to be at Daisy’s eye level as mum and dad made her giggle and encouraged her to raise her head. These images looked great, with Daisy showing real character while leaning on her arms. With a few breaks for feeding and outfit changes the portrait session was going perfectly, Daisy was still smiling and parents Lisa & Chris were still enthusiastic, making funny faces and noises. It’s always great when the parents join in as they know their children much better than I do – in this instance, with Lisa & Chris easily getting a natural expression from Daisy. That’s not to say I don’t play peek-a-boo or pull a funny face too – anything for pure laughter and real emotions.
I could see some great photo opportunities using the Christmas tree and decorations, so when Daisy did have a sleep on her mum’s chest I arranged them as a family and took some more atmospheric pictures. Lisa & Chris have already made a purchase from the picture selection and I know they are very happy with the results, as am I! The portrait session was great fun and the images speak for themselves.
Here are a few images from the session.
